Alaskan Malamute Rescue
THE AIMS:
The aims are quite simple. We want
to find suitable new homes for Alaskan Malamutes who, for whatever reason,
have become unwanted by their owners. They also try to help owners, who
have problems with their dog, but have no wish to re-home it, by offering
advice on possible solutions.
REASONS FOR REHOMING:
Malamutes need re-homing for the
same reasons as any other breed of dog. Most come from private homes, where
there has been a change of circumstances forcing the owners to part with
their dog.
PROSPECTIVE OWNERS:
We are always in need of good, suitable
homes for dogs. But before you decide to give a home to a Malamute, please
ask yourself these questions:
- Have I done my homework on the breed, so that I know what to expect?
- Is someone at home, most or all of the day?
- Do I have the time, to give the dog the exercise it requires, rain or
shine?
- Am I willing to train the dog, to be a well-behaved member of society?
For all prospective adopters it is
the AMCUK policy that:
- A home check must take place prior to adoption.
- A home visit will take place one month after adoption. (To allow the
adopter(s) and dog to bond with each other)
- It is the intention of the AMCUK to monitor all dogs.
- The AMCUK will provide the adopter(s) with relevant details about the
dog and its future care, both behavioural and veterinary, and provide
advice and support, if required, on an ongoing basis.
